In the Advanced Preference panel, the disk cache folder should be editable.
- more aesthetic (symmetry with Memory cache and disk cache)
- possibility to reset to the default cache by deleting all the folder field
- all the cache path could be seen

What are your thoughts?
this is not a bug
Severity: normal → enhancement
Sure it is, since you can't clear it out to reset it.

(It's clear by default, before you set a custom location)

Not a dupe, it's on a seperate issue from that bug.

This has been discussed in detail already and it has been decided to make the
field readonly. Go to bug 46490 for the gory details. Resetting the path is being
discussed there, too. Reresolving as DUPLICATE. If you disagree first read
that bug top to bottom. I have, I coded the patch.

P.S.: You can see all the Cache path. Just try selecting it with your mouse.

Sending to xul for now for creation of the widget I outlined, but I'll probably
take this sometime in the near future (when that readonly field bugs me enough ;)

Summary: Disk cache folder is not editable → Create textbox/button path widget
Pasting Blake's comment from bug 46490 here for easy reference:

Also, I read through the bug with regards to making the field editable (per
request in bug 124635) but I didn't see any solid reasoning, except ease of
implementation. Since we allow users to edit paths elsewhere in the app, and
sine Windows lets people do it, such a decision really doesn't make sense in the
long run. I agree with Simon that we should be using xbl here to facilitate use
of the common textbox/path button combination. The field could be smart about
being readonly on mac, handle path validation (the issue that seems to be
causing the most trouble here), and so forth, all in a consistent manner. But
I'll reopen bug 124635 to handle that.
