Legal needs a short Privacy Notice Summary that users can access that will then link to our website PN and Mozilla PP. When user navigate to the footer and highlights the link, the page of privacy notice summary will jump up. If user open the links in privacy notice(which can be selected by spatial navigation), tv will close marketplace app and open the correspond link in browser. Action needed: 1. Need legal to provide right sentence in marketplace footer [temp: Content available under a Creative Commons license, just a copy from Mozilla blog] 2. Confirm the content of privacy notice summary.

Hi Tori, If we use a footer, can the footer be visible when the user first opens the WebApps Discovery Portal, or would they need to scroll past all the Apps before they can see it? If they need to scroll, I request we use a header rather than a footer. Second, if it is in spec, I'd like the header/footer to read, "Press [SPECIFIED BUTTON] for our privacy notice." With the specified button being either one of the color buttons on the remote or the info button. We noticed that a lot of navigation specifies one of the color buttons, so we thought that made more sense than forcing the user to scroll down. The rest of this plan sounds good to me.

One additional request, I'd like the first bullet to read: This notice is a summary of our privacy practices. To learn more about the information we collect from users and how we handle that information please read our Mozilla Website Privacy Notice[link=https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/privacy/websites/] and Terms of Use[link=https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/about/legal/terms/mozilla/]. Could we also make the notice accessible as a UI option when a user highlights the WebApps portal from the Apps screen and clicks "Options" on the remote? Finally, I wanted to confirm that this notice will live on our servers so we can update it at will? Is that accurate, or will Panasonic control our ability to update the notice?
Hi Brian, thanks for the reply. 1. > Finally, I wanted to confirm that this notice will live on our servers so we > can update it at will? Is that accurate, or will Panasonic control our > ability to update the notice? Yes, this notice will live on our servers. I've confirmed with developer that Partner isn't able to update it. 2. > If we use a footer, can the footer be visible when the user first opens the > WebApps Discovery Portal, or would they need to scroll past all the Apps > before they can see it? If they need to scroll, I request we use a header > rather than a footer. We can use fixed footer, which means it will always on the screen. Everyone opens marketplace will see it. (ex: https://mana.mozilla.org/wiki/display/PM/Connected+Devices+-+Product+Innovation). 3. > Could we also make the notice accessible as a UI option when a user > highlights the WebApps portal from the Apps screen and clicks "Options" on > the remote? Due to feasibility, it's hard to put the link in option key (the function has to be built in tv itself and we already finished feature development for 2.5). 4. > Second, if it is in spec, I'd like the header/footer to read, "Press > [SPECIFIED BUTTON] for our privacy notice." With the specified button being > either one of the color buttons on the remote or the info button. We noticed > that a lot of navigation specifies one of the color buttons, so we thought > that made more sense than forcing the user to scroll down. The marketplace is on server side and hard to interact with hardware. Second, color key usually works as shortkey for frequently accessed functions which is different use case from the privacy notice. As we don't have so many web apps, I think current design is OK.

Tori, Great on points 1 and 2, I think we're OK on 3. On 4, I understand that we don't have many apps now, but obviously that will change if this initiative grows. Will there be a version 2.6 of this product where we can change the way users interact with the footer (if not a color key, then the info key, etc.)? The current plan will not scale well.

I plan to have some minimal changes so we can better scale this. To be discussed further with David

The current plan will not scale well. @Brian Yes current design is a short-term solution. We will note this issue in future update. I've updated ux spec here (p34, 35) https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4dMhI4hp32OWllCWHBkQXlnbFE and put privacy notice summary here for developer to implement: https://docs.google.com/a/mozilla.com/document/d/1iHL3Htbrfw_Ha40Njxi9HBoMoghlCebTPldwTTfPNqE/edit?usp=sharing Could you help me to check the strings in marketplace footer?

Hi Tori, I've added two comments and a question in the google doc. My question is whether we will refer to this as "the Web Apps Discovery Portal" anywhere else that the user would see? If not, I suggest we change those references in the summary to "this Web Apps discovery portal"

I've added the link to Privacy Notice on the WebApps main page and the statement page to the visual spec, please refer to the page 6 - 16 in the spec, link http://bit.ly/1lr4WNu

Helen, Thanks, this looks good to me. I am sure this will be corrected in the final, but it looks like in the first line of the privacy notice summary the word "users" has a space in it so it reads "us ers".
Thanks Brian, I will update the spec.
Landed in marketplace-tv-front-end master. https://github.com/mozilla-b2g/marketplace-tv-front-end/commit/d986f53304af9dcfdb4636b707fa9392c2f7dec3 The dev server did not update due to some building failure. See the follow up bug 1257739.
