Details

If the default browser on a Windows PC uses DDE, making Mozilla the default browser doesn't fully change the setting, leading to an error message every time a URL is launched from the "Run" selection on the Start Menu. Repro: 1. Install Opera or Internet Explorer and make it the default browser. 2. Run Mozilla. Tell Mozilla to be the default browser for HTTP requests. 3. Close Mozilla. Select Start | Run, and type "http://www.mozilla.org" 4. Observe: The page opens, but you get a dialog that says "Cannot find the file "http://www.mozilla.org" (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available." Proposed Fix: To fix this problem, Mozilla needs to change the Registry. It already correctly changes the entry in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\http\shell\open\command, but it also needs to delete the key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\http\shell\open\ddeexec and all its subkeys, as these will still refer to the other browser.
I've seen this. Over to Bill for a look.
