Details
The default setting for IMAP should be to try the SSL connection first, then
silently fall back to non-SSL IMAP.
Rather than have a checkbox that the user has to know how to set (once they
figure out where the setting is), the software should be smart enough to try the
SSL connection first, then fallback to the insecure setting.

I don't think this should be done every time, but it could be done at account
creation.

I agree with comment one- it would be nice if on the first connection it
attempted SSL and used it for there out if it was avalible. Every time is a bad
idea. Confirming, changing platform to all.
