After supporting rust-url in the necko code, we intend to run both parsers side-by-side to identify any regressions that might caused by differences between parsers.

No, I think we did a few try runs with this at some point, and the ways nsStandardURL diverges from the spec were quite obvious. I think the new plan of using rust-url for non-special schemes is a better approach.
