Auto fill is not desirable, as the user does not have the option to deny access to credentials to the content javascript.

FWIW, Chrome and Safari do the same (autofill).
We could provide a snackbar that asks permission, with options [each time] [only once] and utilize Passcode/TouchID if enabled.

Re-nominating for tracking.
50% of my use of the menu in Firefox is to open Settings > Logins because a login wasn't auto-filled. Sometimes we don't even correctly fill a login if you type the username in full.
This is the biggest obstacle IMO to Firefox being considered a daily-driver browser.
