Details
It's hard to reproduce, but the result is, there is a notification for already dismissed (or even removed) past event. Reported here https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1113529 with local calendar. I had the same issue with Google synced calendar several times (about once a quarter). The solution is to remove and add (import) the calendar, where the event was.
If there is something I should look for and debug once it reoccurs, please lead me.

Except for the already dismissed part, it sounds similar to Bug 1110183 - does it happen in Lightning versions 4.6b1 or higher?

I am not using Thunderbird with calendar anymore. If noone is able to reproduce it anymore, as a reporter I would suggest to close this bug. It can always be reopened or a new one filed, I someone hits it again.
