From bug 1240849 we have a definition of User Engagement. Using this, how engaged are Windows XP Firefox users? How does this compare to the wider population?

And then the usual, other, curiosity-type questions: does it differ based on geo, locale, version, channel, etc.

Note that :rvitillo's looking into writing a high-performance way to do this for e10s vs non-e10s populations in bug 1251259
This might just be a special case of :rvitillo's bug 1253644...
Depends on: 1253644
So I'm going to need the DAU/MAU of the wider population and the DAU/MAU for the WinXP population.

Assuming the longitudinal dataset is a representative sample, we can calculate the DAU_in_longitudinal/MAU_in_longitudinal and trust that it will be roughly equivalent to DAU/MAU.

Here are, in order: DAU_in_longitudinal, Windows XP DAU_in_longitudinal, MAU_in_longitudinal, Windows XP MAU_in_longitudinal

These queries look good to me. r+

I was initially skeptical about computing the 7-Day average DAU by counting the number of (clientid+activity_day) combinations and dividing by 7, but I am now convinced that it's the same as taking the mean of the distinct counts per day over the same 7 days.

The only difference with the MAU/DAU definitions as described in bug 1240849 is that the submission dates are not bounded to 10 days here. I expect that to have minimal impact on the result (especially since clearly-broken data is discarded via the WHERE clause).
The results:

All Firefox: 0.42348500452894171042494689372621
Windows XP: 0.40840757619301774985972547248566

So, Windows XP Firefox Users are only a little less engaged with Firefox than the Firefox user population as a whole.
