See bug 1008453 comment 35: PR_GetNumberOfProcessors uses a deprecated API whose behavior is not really defined on Mac, and on Linux uses some stuff whose behavior may not really match that of the deprecated Mac API.

Would it make sense to add PR_GetMaxNumberOfLogicalProcessors which would aim for consistent semantics across operating systems here?
