Just so I don't forget – I'll talk to antlam about it.
Note: this requires no code changes – it's just a workflow change.

Anthony, they essentially wrote a plugin that exports Sketch data into an interactive web app that provides dp spacing, colors, etc. Let's try it out!

Thanks for sharing Mike! I actually downloaded a "measure" plugin when we were in SFO for the Android hack week and it seems to speed up my "spec time" already.
Since I've just gotten accustomed to that, I'll try sympli later on.
But I am interested to see what specifically sympli might help us solve. Maybe I can facilitate that another way without fully committing to sympli right now?

fwiw, with Sympli, it is my understanding that you have to do anything special with your designs. You just hit the export button, send me a web link, and I can use their tooling to measure distances, colors are automatically listed (and named from your mocks), and assets are available for download from the site. This eliminates you having to make special mocks, measure them, reference your colors, etc. – you make a mock, click export, and it's done – no real back-and-forth. While I don't know how long it takes you to come up with your measurements, colors, etc., I think it's worth investing fifteen minutes to explore.
What do you think?

I think a lot of the value that a tool like this provides, we've already kind of covered. E.g. establishing a colour palette.
Though, wouldn't it be easier for you guys to download sketch and just view the specs in there? I think I showed you guys the interface before and how easy it was to see padding/margins/distances/etc.
The first problem with adopting a new tools and workflows like these is always going to be decent amounts of "ramp up" time. Unfortunately, I don't think we really have much to gain from this tool ATM.
I've tried similar services before but ultimately I find that there will always be a need for back and forth. And that's OK, it's not necessarily a bad thing.
If you'd like, perhaps we can try it out when we have more time? with some bugs that we work on together? and if it works well, we could go from there. Either way, it will definitely take more than fifteen minutes to explore though so we should probably continue this conversation via email.

liuche explained to me antlam's current workflow and I was missing some pieces – I don't think this is as valuable as I thought it would be.
Perhaps we'll re-investigate in the future.
