Whenever I get an error dialog that causes a window to flash, the window
continues flashing even after the dialog is dismissed.  This normally happens
when my machine is idle and I find the dialog when I first log on.  Not sure if
that's related.  

The only workaround is to close the (very much) offending window and open a new one.
