Details
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:0.9.8) Gecko/20020204
BuildID: 2002020406
Scenario: OutlookXP is configured as default mail application (as seen in IE ->
Internet Properties) and Mozilla is not configured to be the default mail client
(nor retake that position)
What happens: when you open mozilla, the default mail client is changed to
<empty> (or just, none)
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Uncheck mozilla's "be default mail client" option (if checked)
2. Select another app to be the default mail client (Outlook worked for me)
3. Open mozilla
4. Check your start menu (XP) or IE->Internet Properties.
The default client should have changed to <empty> (none).
Expected Results: The default mail client should not change if not requested or
configured.

I can confirm this problem somehow: Under Win98, when I have the "be default
mail client" checkbox unchecked and in prefs.js the folling line is set:
user_pref("mailnews.default_mail_client", false), my favourite eMail client
(TheBat) complains to be no longer the default mail client after I started Mozilla.

I can also confirm this bug using Mozilla 0.9.8,
NT2K, IE5.5, and Outlook2K
dup of bug 122377?
Are anyone still seeing this in recent builds?
