1269480 - For a new profile, second character is lost when typing into the URL bar

STR:

1) Create a brand spankin' new profile and start the browser
2) Select the URL bar and start typing "cbc.ca" (that's what I typed, anyways)

ER:

cbc.ca should show up in the URL bar

AR:

I got cc.ca. After the first character went in, the AwesomeBar panel started to open and do stuff, and something swallowed my second character.

This seems a lot less bad with a pre-populated history or something, because I never experience this with my normal profile, which suggests to me that this might be an onboarding issue.
