this is a spin off from bug 116882. We handle the Shift_JIS case there.
May need to do the same thing for EUC-JP.

not sure how important this is.
momoi- I know we have some bug that sjis page use undefined characters as middle
dot. Do we have the same problem in EUC-JP? any example?
