I've been seeing awful performance for weeks. snorp tells me this is related to the fade-in tile changes. However, these are supposed to have been reverted in the Nightly I'm using [1] and my scrolling is still awful. Nexus 5. Screen recordings of Twitter and about:support to follow.
It's my subjective impression that these sites perform significantly better in Release 47.

AIUI Randall and snorp were saying that some displayport changes would fix this, and Randall is investigating.

Is the Jun 21 nightly better? I expect bug 1262807 to have improved things considerably.

With 20160621030208, I would say yes, things are much better. It appears that the low res tiles are back and functional (which surprises me, since I thought they were disabled), but overall things are much better. I didn't screencap my Twitter timeline scrolling, but it's night and day compared to what it was -- significantly more responsive rendering.
