I may have missed this point: But I can not find a way to make Mozilla check a mail account BEFORE sending mail back to the (same) smtp relay. "smtp after pop" or "smtp after imap" is a common way to avoid spammers. The smtp channel is only open for a limited time and only after the users IP has been granted access through pror POP3 or IMAP authentification. I heard rumors that the latest M$ outlook 6x builds support this funktionand I think Mozilla should do the same ;-)
