It would be very nice if the mailnews application supported multiple identities: I have a lot of e-mail addresses: one for mailing lists, one to submit to sites that will probably spam me, one for school etc. The first two are webmail-accounts, the last one is a pop3-account which mail is forwarded to my normal account using fetchmail. Right now, I created bogus accounts in mozilla for the webmail accounts - this way I can select them as "from" in the compose window, but they aren't real accounts because they don't have a real server set. This way, I can use mozilla to send mail for all my accounts, even though I can't read my incoming mail using mozilla. The way I do this right now works, but it is not a nice thing to do - I manually have to set the folder where send mail is copied to, I get errors when I try to check for new mail etc. A nice future would be to create a 3rd (4th) type account - "Virtual Identity" (or something like that), as an addition to the current types: pop, imap and news. I also have some thoughts what this should look like: The create account dialog would ask for three things: the name and e-mail adres that should appear on sent mail and the account to save mail/drafts etc. to (this could be an IMAP-mail server or a pop (local-folders) account. The new account-type would have support for all the functions normal mail accounts have: [ ]Sent mail in HTML-format, Reply-To address, Signature etc. I don't know that much about the design of the mailnews, but I think the easiest way to implement this would be to take the pop-mail account as a template, disable unneeded stuff like communication with the server etc. and use the folder of the account referenced in the create-account-dialog. This would be a very nice feature.
