We're not using the site selector functionality anymore. In fact, the UI to suppport it is being removed to provide space for the Recapture Homepage option. But there is code scattered all over the installer which needs removed. Some of it seems to affect logic about downloading which isn't entirely straightforward, so ripping it out looks like it might take some work and introduce some risk. Ergo, want to keep removing the code seperate from removing the UI support so we can postpone it until after 1.0 if necassary.
Curt: What exactly is the site selector?
It hasn't been used since I've been working on the installer (which is why I'm planning to remove the code) so I'm not very up on it. As I understand it, it allowed users to select download sites which were closer to their physical locations when we were maintaining multiple dowload sites. I'll let Sean add any pertinent info, since he is familiar with the now obsolete feature.
ahhh ok. no need for that code anymore/ever...:)
