Using mar01 commercial trunk, win98 Doesn't happen in yesterday's trunk build (feb28) When you cancel an account password dialog, mail window loses focus and you're sent to open browser window.

I added a bug, bug 128537, where I see the same problem Laurel is talking about but I see it when I login to mesgr right after I enter my password & hit ok/enter. Probably same bug? Dupe mine out?
There's an awful lot of "lose focus" instances with different alerts/dialogs today in the mail window. My guess is they'll all be duplicated against some master cause bug.
you're right. I see the same thing happen in the browser, if you search for an item and the security warning pops up, click ok, browser ends up in the backgrnd. So probably not a mailnews bug but I couldn't find any browser focus bugs that are current.
When a modal dialog box comes up and you click an answer it causes the parent windows to blur (lose focus). This is more general and is a usability issue. If you have an application running then switch to Mozilla, go to a site or cause a dialog (alert or confirm) to pop up and hit any one of the response, Mozilla will blur and the previous application window will get focus.
This was happening in Windows 2000 as well.
Bug 128520 seems a dupe of this. Perhaps, this description can be a little more generalized. Trying to hunt other dupes or related bugs.
possibly related to Bug 123211 and Bug 123418.
reassigning to danm since it happens in the browser too.

nsbeta1+ per ADT/Embed triage.

If this is the master bug, I suggest changing the summary to something like: "Closing a dialog causes main window to lose focus". It's a very visible regression and is very noticable on any site that uses httpd authentication!
Further research. Pretty sure now that this isn't the master bug on this issue. I think this bug should be marked as a duplicate of bug 122765 ("Mozilla loses focus and Z order due to Alert / other dialogs")
