From what I can see, this is an issue with a breakpoint not being hit in the debugger... bug 1286186 doesn't go anywhere near that code. In fact, my try run for that rebased patch shows the same issue: https://treeherder.mozilla.org/#/jobs?repo=try&revision=d4eb8af8a02c So I assume it is a previous patch that has caused this.

I have spent the best part of a week looking into this and don't seem to be able to reproduce it locally. No ideas so far.

This is currently #3 on OrangeFactor. Probably worth considering disabling the test.

Yes, I am of the opinion that whenever a test starts to turn orange we should disable it until we have a fix. This patch disables the test.
