Right now you can only set an empty page or the most visited sites for the new tab. It will be great if we can also set the new tab to the Mozilla Firefox start page. I mean this one :

@jeremy9856: If you want some feature / bug fixed, either provide a patch, or (if you cannot) consider paying someone to write that patch for you, but please stop spamming bug reports with comments which add no useful information whatsoever and could be seen as just whining. Thanks.

I think it will not be implemented by the official, as we are moving forward to the Activity Stream. It may be implemented by add-ons.

With Firefox 57 we will be providing a new "new tab / home screen" experience. I believe you can override this from web extensions, so closing this issue.
