130233 - Breaking lines when editing quoted text within a reply adds too many line breaks

This appears when replying and using the plain text editor. Tested
with Mozilla 0.9.9 today.

If I press enter to break a line into two I get an extra empty line between the
two new lines. If I press backspace (to remove the carriage return I just
entered) I end up with what I expected to get (I think).

This string:

> the Internet more enjoyable, free and peaceful for everyone.

Becomes this after pressing Return after "free". The cursor is placed
on the middle, empty line.

As the bug this is claimed to be a duplicate of is closed, I doubt it is the
same bug. This little sucker continue to haunt me in Mozilla 1.5.

This is by design, and I imagine it would be WONTFIX'd if anyone cared to give 
it their attention.  When the CR is typed, the line is split into two lines 
which each are "quoted" -- colored in blue, and the cursor is left on the line 
in between where typing is unquoted (black, by default).  Compare this to the 
behavior seen when splitting a quoted line in the HTML editor.

See bug 161968, which is about addressing the fact that the quote status on that 
second half of the line is lost unless the '>' character is explicitly typed in.
