User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Ubuntu Chromium/51.0.2704.79 Chrome/51.0.2704.79 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce: OS: Kubuntu 16.04 KDS Plasma: 5.5.5 64 bit Processor: 2xAMD A4-5300 APU with Radeon HD Graphics 1. Install Thunderbird from Ubuntu Software Centre (version 45.2.0) 2. Go to addons within TB and install Provider for Google Calendar version 3.1 3. Connect a new mail account 4. Open calendar view in TB 5. Add calendar from Google: Main - No birthdays calendar - Main calendar has only 4 events which are recurring forever. 6. The bottom bar shows that calendar events are being synced. 7. Keep clicking randomly all over and nothing happens. 8. Click on the close button on the TB window, nothing happens. 9. Wait few seconds, unresponsive script error is shown. 10. Kill TB 11. Relaunch TB 12. Opens on the calendar view 13. Unresponsive. No loading in the status bar. Actual results: 1. Hangs and becomes unresponsive 2. Error for unresponsive script shows up with an xml line number which keeps changing every now and then. 3. Responds for 2 seconds after 5mins and then hangs again. Repeat. 4. After relaunch, TB is still not responsive. Expected results: Calendar should be accessible. Sync should happen in the background while app remains responsive. After relaunch, TB should respond/ After relaunch, TB should resume fetching/syncing calendar.

Can you try playing with the calendar.threading.latency value? It should not be higher than the default 250, and not lower than 60. Also, please enable calendar.debug.log and calendar.debug.log.verbose in the config editor under options > advanced > general > config editor, then check for error messages after reproducing the issue again.

Summary: Lightning takes very long to respond when Google Calendar connected → Lightning takes very long to respond when Google Calendar events recurring forever
Whiteboard: [dupme]

Needs to change "Lightning" to "Calendar", and needs a version.

(In reply to Worcester12345 from comment #2)

Needs to change "Lightning" to "Calendar",

No, as Ben previously mentioned, we are not doing that. It would be needless churn. Furthermore, this bug already has "calendar" in the summary.
Regarding version, if it is an old bug then it's not worth the work determining the original version. If it was a recent regression (which this is not), then yes it is worth filling in the version.
In general, the suggestions you are making are of little value and amount to spam. PLEASE STOP.
