i've noticed this on and off today using 2002.03.13.08 comm verif bits on linux
rh7.2. not sure if this would be xp, but it might be...

when i have caret browsing turned on, sometimes i get into a state where the
spacebar doesn't scroll the page while i'm viewing an html directory listing
such as http://hopey.mcom.com/tests/ --i'm not sure what i've done that gets
into this state since it doesn't happen all the time.

when i encounter this, i usually (reflexively) mouseclick in the listing, and
hit space again --which works until i hit space yet again, whereupon scrolling
fails.

if i toggle caret mode off (ctrl+shift+K), i'm able to scroll with the spacebar
without problems (afaict).

Space doesn't pagedown when caret mode is on at all.
