1310264 - Firefox 50b7 freezes for up to 2 minutes when OS wakes up from sleep

For the last week every morning when I wake up my Mac and try to interact with Firefox it is completely unresponsiveness with a "beachball" cursor.  It takes up to 2 minutes to recover! This is on the beta channel with e10s "1/1 (Enabled by default)".

Looking at Activity Monitor, it looks like the CPU is pegged at 100% for the main process when this happens. I'm not sure what's normal, but the disk I/O feels like it could be high at 4.6GB for the main process -- this drops to 75MB once it recovers.

This morning when it happened I had 7 open tabs including GMail (x2), Techmeme, Twitter, Google Calendar (x2) and a New York Times article.
When this happened before I assumed it was the long-standing issues with Google Docs as I often have multiple Google Docs open at any one time. This was not the case today.

In this profile I have two add-ons enabled, both of which are flagged as e10s compatible, including: Dashlane and Adblock Plus.

I'll also note here that no other apps that are restored when the OS wakes from sleep are affected. Each is wholly usable and responsive.

Thanks for reporting. If you're willing, I have some steps I'd like you to follow to try to give us more information on what is happening here.

The first thing I need you to do is install the Gecko Profiler add-on in your version of Firefox Beta:

This is the Gecko Profiler Add-on. This add-on acts like a flight recorder, and will take snapshots of what Firefox is doing every few milliseconds.

Yeah, some people seem to have this issue frequently (see bug 639262, or various other bugs that come up if you search for "freeze sleep" on bugzilla) but I'm not sure what is happening.

I'm not sure the profiler will work, because the browser is not responding.

When you are in Activity Monitor, and have the hanging process selected (that's using 100% CPU), you can click on the gear at the upper left, and select "Sample Process". This will give you some kind of profiling information you can copy and paste into a file and attach to this bug.
