Details
(Whiteboard: [platform-rel-Twitch])
Firefox Nightly, Windows 10, software H264 decoding
STR:
1) Go to https://www.twitch.tv
2) Watch a stream
3) Load the machine. A normal usermode program using CPU doesn't necessarily trigger this, but something nasty like compiling Firefox in a VM does.
After a bit video stutters (not unexpected) but audio completely drops out. Refreshing the page fixes it.
I've seen audio spontaneously break during normal watching, without the extra load, but the latter seems to trigger this much faster.

Has anyone had any luck reporoducing this? I've been attempting to do so in rel and nightly and haven't had any success.

I'll give it another shot, haven't been on Windows much lately. Also, my AMD card got its H264 decoder unblocked (we used to blacklist it), so it wouldn't show in normal usage.

I just reproduced this with current Nightly.
Have a program that fully loads the CPU (all 4 cores in my case). Was running at normal priority.
Most Windows programs are perfectly usable.
Nightly is extremely sluggish, slow and hangs often. Trying to watch a Twitch a video in this case lead to working audio, but video never appeared (the opposite of the original report).
I think there are 2 issues here:
a) An underlying problem with thread scheduling or messaging causing Firefox to be an utterly slow piece of molasses
the moment the CPU is fully loaded (WAY WAAAAY worse than any other program).
b) An issue in the HTML5 decoding stack that causes it to get irrecoverably stuck if (a) happens during the load of a Twitch stream.

Bug 1344772 fixed a CPU hogging issue. Can you try the latest Nightly to see if the issue of CPU full loaded still present?
