If you create a GitHub account and say your email address is jdoe@mozilla.com. Can you log in to GitHub? Perhaps you created it nicely with jdoe@example.com but later changed your email address to jdoe@mozilla.com so you're definitely logged in to GitHub.
If you click on Air Mozilla to log in, using the GitHub button, you would get full access if you prove to Air Mozilla that your email is jdoe@mozilla.com
Point is; we need to check that the user has verified the email.
