Right now we simply refuse to load any schemes that aren't HTTP(S), meaning any links that open external apps won't work. We should support these links, with a dialog warning the user about leaving the app.

There is also Universal Links (https://developer.apple.com/library/content/documentation/General/Conceptual/AppSearch/UniversalLinks.html) which allow apps to capture http(s) urls for the domains they control. So, for instance, if I'm browsing with Focus and tap on any Amazon link, it will launch the Amazon app without any kind of confirmation.
