User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; AOSC OS; Linux ppc64; rv:45.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/45.0 Build ID: 20161029021523 Steps to reproduce: Opening a YouTube video page (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3IfokvMHU8k). Actual results: The "loading" icon on the video player - dots spinning - were spinning for a long time, the video did not start playing. Hovering mouse over the time line shows correct thumbnails. Expected results: The video should just play.
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:53.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/53.0 20161114043454 I have tested this issue on Ubuntu 16.06 x64 with Firefox latest Nightly (Build ID: 20161114043454) and Firefox latest release 50.0.1 and could not reproduce it. Did you used an official build from :https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ ? Can you please upgrade your Firefox to latest release (50.0.1) and retest the issue? Please test if the issue can be reproduced in the safe mode of Firefox: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode. If you still have the issue please create a new profile, you have the steps here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles?redirectlocale=en-US&redirectslug=Managing-profiles#w_starting-the-profile-manager.

The thing is, this is PowerPC64 architecture, not Intel x86_64.

Hi Mingcong Bai, I didn't manage to set up the environment and test the issue but I will assign a possible related component. Can you please try the requests from comment 1 so we can continue the investigations? Thank you
Component: Untriaged → Audio/Video
Product: Firefox → Core

Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
Ever confirmed: true
Component: Audio/Video → Audio/Video: Playback
We don't have a way to debug this but I'd be prepared to review a patch if someone provides one. It is likely an endian issue.

There is a loading spinner when WebM is enabled. Disabling WebM and falling back to H.264 works (but with wrong colours).

WFM on ppc64le, so marking big-endian.

Blocks: big-endian
Severity: normal → S3
