Mac OS Sierra 10.12


[Steps to reproduce]:

1.Add Vietnamese input method if hasn't (System Preferences/Keyboard/(Tab) Input Sources/Add Vietnamese telex) and select Telex Vietnamese input method.
1.Open latest Nightly and go to apple.com
2.Open another tab and go to URL bar and type 'a', 'p', 'p'. Here you will see a suggestion "apple.com" with "le.com" part highlighted in blue 
3.Press Enter 

[Expected result]:

It should go to apple.com and open the site. 

[Actual result]:

The highlighted part "le.com" is deleted and after I press second time enter it shows result of searching for 'app'.


[Additional notes]:

If I change Vietnamese input to U.S. input everything works as expected.

Do you still see this bug with 21st's build or later?

Bug 1317906 fixes similar bug of Korean IME, so, this could be fixed by it.

Tested with Nightly 53.0a1(2016-11-21) and I still reproduce this.
 
I will leave the NI? flag for now as a reminder for tomorrow to not forgot testing this with 22st's build.

I have a question, when you type "app", do you see marked text (underlined text) in the word?

Yes, the word is underlined. I did some exploratory and after I entered "app" in URL the text is underlined and if I press enter the text appear to be without underline and a drop down with suggestions appeared. I attached a screen recorder to see what I'm talking about.

Thanks. While there is marked text, we don't allow to open suggest window of autocomplete due to popup may overlap with IME window and hide it (see attachment 173449 [details]).

There are some options, fortunately, on Windows and macOS, we can retrieve active IME name. If we can create white-list which a list of IMEs which never open any their own window, we can avoid the limitation. Then, autocomplete must be able to handle keyup of Enter immediately after compositionend can handle it as usual Enter keydown.
