Steps to reproduce: 1) Obtain an ARMv7 hard float system with 2 GB of RAM. (I used Debian Jessie on the virt device of qemu-system-arm.) 2) Install Rust from rustup.rs. (For me, rustc --version says "rustc 1.13.0 (2c6933acc 2016-11-07)".) 3) Apply the workaround from bug 1320022 comment 2. 4) --enable-rust in mozconfig (I also enabled optimize and disabled debug.) 5) ./mach build Actual results: $<50>1003:50.51$<2> Compiling unicode-bidi v0.2.3 $<50>1003:50.56$<2> Running `/home/hsivonen/.cargo/bin/rustc /home/hsivonen/Projects/mozilla-central/third_party/rust/unicode-bidi/src/lib.rs --color always --crate-name unicode_bidi --crate-type lib -C opt-level=2 -C panic=abort -g -C metadata=203c2f081915b1a1 -C extra-filename=-203c2f081915b1a1 --out-dir /home/hsivonen/Projects/obj-opt/toolkit/library/rust/./armv7-unknown-linux-gnueabihf/release/deps --emit=dep-info,link --target armv7-unknown-linux-gnueabihf -L dependency=/home/hsivonen/Projects/obj-opt/toolkit/library/rust/./armv7-unknown-linux-gnueabihf/release/deps --extern matches=/home/hsivonen/Projects/obj-opt/toolkit/library/rust/./armv7-unknown-linux-gnueabihf/release/deps/libmatches-1461715c9d10da05.rlib --cap-lints allow` $<50>1004:35.83$<2> error: Could not compile `unicode-bidi`. $<50>1004:35.84$<2> $<50>1004:35.86$<2> Caused by: $<50>1004:35.89$<2> process didn't exit successfully: `/home/hsivonen/.cargo/bin/rustc /home/hsivonen/Projects/mozilla-central/third_party/rust/unicode-bidi/src/lib.rs --color always --crate-name unicode_bidi --crate-type lib -C opt-level=2 -C panic=abort -g -C metadata=203c2f081915b1a1 -C extra-filename=-203c2f081915b1a1 --out-dir /home/hsivonen/Projects/obj-opt/toolkit/library/rust/./armv7-unknown-linux-gnueabihf/release/deps --emit=dep-info,link --target armv7-unknown-linux-gnueabihf -L dependency=/home/hsivonen/Projects/obj-opt/toolkit/library/rust/./armv7-unknown-linux-gnueabihf/release/deps --extern matches=/home/hsivonen/Projects/obj-opt/toolkit/library/rust/./armv7-unknown-linux-gnueabihf/release/deps/libmatches-1461715c9d10da05.rlib --cap-lints allow` (exit code: 1) $<50>1004:35.94$<2> /home/hsivonen/Projects/mozilla-central/config/rules.mk:951: recipe for target 'force-cargo-build' failed $<50>1004:35.96$<2> make[5]: *** [force-cargo-build] Error 101 $<50>1004:35.97$<2> /home/hsivonen/Projects/mozilla-central/config/recurse.mk:71: recipe for target 'toolkit/library/rust/target' failed $<50>1004:35.97$<2> make[4]: *** [toolkit/library/rust/target] Error 2 $<50>1004:35.99$<2> /home/hsivonen/Projects/mozilla-central/config/recurse.mk:32: recipe for target 'compile' failed $<50>1004:36.01$<2> make[3]: *** [compile] Error 2 $<50>1004:36.02$<2> /home/hsivonen/Projects/mozilla-central/config/rules.mk:523: recipe for target 'default' failed $<50>1004:36.03$<2> make[2]: *** [default] Error 2 $<50>1004:36.05$<2> /home/hsivonen/Projects/mozilla-central/client.mk:415: recipe for target 'realbuild' failed $<50>1004:36.07$<2> make[1]: *** [realbuild] Error 2 $<50>1004:36.08$<2> client.mk:170: recipe for target 'build' failed $<50>1004:36.09$<2> make: *** [build] Error 2 $<50>1004:36.13$<2> 0 compiler warnings present. You may want to try 1.14 beta. Rust 1.13 is broken for ARM targets. See https://blog.rust-lang.org/2016/11/10/Rust-1.13.html

See > https://blog.rust-lang.org/2016/11/10/Rust-1.13.html Good point. Thanks. cd third_party/rust/unicode-bidi/; cargo build compiles seemingly successfully with 1.13, but I'll try Rust 1.14.
All the Rust crates in the tree build with Rust 1.14.
