1. Open several websites using Firefox browser such as Gmail, Mozilla Calendar.
2. In Top sites, the English word can not map the website name.
Actual Result:Mozilla Calendar is labelled as "G", Expected Result: labelled " M".
Actual Result: Gmail is labelled as "M", Expected Result: labelled "G".

This was implemented in bug 1228680. The generated icon is based purely on the domain currently (ignoring common prefixes like "www", "mobile" etc).
mail.google.com -> m
www.mozilla.org -> m
m.facebook.com -> f

Yeah, this is something we considered when implementing the feature. As Sebastian pointed out, ignoring the prefixes is deliberate because it helps a lot when dealing with some very common domains. While not perfect, this isn't a bug.
I think this is behaving as desired so we should probably WONTFIX this for now. We can open another if UX would like to revisit it too.
