When Firefox is quit, nsAppStartup has a ref count of one and is not deleted. This prevents nsAppShell from also being deleted since nsAppStartup holds a reference to the nsAppShell. This was first observed on Android while researching Bug 1324935 and Bug 1325146 but I was able to reproduce on Mac desktop as well.
