The following text is incorrect:
The SVGElement interface doesn't provide any additional methods, but inherits methods from its parent, Element.
Some methods which come to mind:
getScreenCTM
getCTM
getBBox
etc.
The full list of available methods seems to be available on msdn:

I'd be happy to add to the docs if someone gives me some guidance.
