User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:50.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/50.0 Build ID: 20161208153507 Steps to reproduce: "When Firefox starts: Ask for session to be loaded" is selected and furthermore there are some startpages named. So when FF crashes, it will load the startpages first, displaying the window for selection a session. browser.sessionstore.restore_on_demand is true (I don't find the location of the checkbox at the moment), so tabs don't load until selected. So when you click on the first tab(s), you see that the startpage is still loaded and then immediately the session tab is loaded. Actual results: startpage still in memory Expected results: startpage not in memory any longer after loading session
You can also see the startpage tabs in about:performance.
Hi Alex, I haven't quite understood how to reproduce the issue, are you experiencing this after Firefox crashes and restarting it? By startpages, do you mean "about:newtab", also is the issue reproducible with e10s enabled/disabled? Can you please try to reformulate the STR in order to understand the issue better? Also if you find the time please retest this using the latest Nightly build (https://nightly.mozilla.org/) and see if the issue is still reproducible there. Thanks.

Hi Emil, yes, crash and restart. No, not newtab, but the "home"/start pages that are loaded when you click on the house-button. Sorry - this is all in German... So the steps: 0. bare FF. 1. set one or more home/start page(s) 2. install Session Manger addon 3. set option "ask for session to be loaded" in General options: "when FF starts..." 4. Have some tabs open that are not your start tabs. 5. Let FF crash. (There are 2 processes now, take the one with higher RAM-usage?!) 6. Start FF. Outcome: Start pages will be loaded AND window opens that asks you to select a session. You select a session. The tabs are not loaded by default, but when you click on the first one, you see the still loaded start page for a second before the session tab is loaded. Without Session Manager addon the start page is not loaded, but a tab named "Sorry..." where you can select the tabs to be loaded. No bug occurs...

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:51.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/51.0 I have tested this issue on Windows 10 x64 with the latest Firefox release (51.0.1) and the latest Nightly (54.0a1-20170129110302) and managed to reproduce it following the steps described in comment 3. Due to the fact that the add-on doesn't work properly on the latest Nightly, I wasn't able to reproduce it there. However, on the latest Firefox, when restarting after crash, and selecting a session, the tabs are not loaded by default, when clicking the first one, you see the still loaded start page for a second before the session tab is loaded as mentioned by the reporter. I am assigning a component to this issue in order to involve the development team and get an opinion on this.
