User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:51.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/51.0
Build ID: 20170103031119
Steps to reproduce:
Clicking on a PDF downloading link here
http://www.seat.sk/konfigurovat-kupit/cenniky-katalogy-a-technicke-udaje/leon
Under "Nový SEAT Leon SC/5D/ST Kombi" offers to either Open or Download the PDF file. This happens when checking the "Do this automatically for files..." option with "Open with Firefox".
Actual results:
Firefox downloaded the file 5 times - opened 5 empty tabs to download the file in each and then opened the file in the sixth tab.
Expected results:
I've selected "Open with Firefox (default)" option and checked "Do this automatically..." so Firefox should just open the PDF file in the new tab without asking again.

Copying the direct link to PDF
http://www.seat.sk/media/Kwc_Basic_DownloadTag_Component/1500-13494-list-28714-link-linkTag-child/default/285625b0/1483544952/kalkulacia-leon-mj2017-01-04-facelift.pdf
and opening in Firefox shows the same result.
Because you have associated .pdf files to firefox.exe on your OS (you can see that in the download panel of Firefox, PDF files have the Firefox icon) and the webserver doesn't offer the possibility to read online the PDF, so Firefox calls itself recursively to open the PDF.

While this is user action causing this, we should have some guard rails up that prevents one from doing this.
Reopening.
