133401 - IMAP SSL hangs during Fetch only sometimes on a folder (repeatably)

I have two test mail folders Test and Test2.  If I start up Mozilla mail with
SSL to the server and click on Test2 the system hangs while loading the folder.
 If I start up Mozilla mail with SSL to the server and click on Test and (after
it loads) click on Test2, then both mailboxes load.   If I start up Mozilla mail
without SSL and click on Test2, the mailbox is loaded properly.

The problem occurs on the 0.9.9 releases for both MacOS (on 9.2.2) and MacOS X
(on 10.1.3).  Not a problem in NS 6.2.2 on MacOS X.  I was not able to reproduce
the problem in Mozilla 0.9.9 on Linux RH.

The server is UW 2001a with OpenSSL 0.9.6.

Expected Results:  The mailbox should be loaded almost instantly.

I think we have a serious problem here.

Under OS X, *no* (CFM) build has *ever* succeeded to fetch the list of messages
in my INBOX since I started experiencing the problem (see previous comment and
attachment 77012 [details]).

Under OS 9, both the Carbon CFM and the classic builds sometimes succeed and
sometimes fail on that INBOX. The attached log exhibits such failure, at
message 184 of about 200, with this build:
