Clean install of >51.x.x (32 and 64 bit versions) on Win7 SP1, try to launch FF
Actual results:
FF crashes and sends a bug report (see report below)

In general, when it crashes at startup, it's due to a 3rd-party application like antivirus.

This is a corporate imaged system so it's possible something from the corporate image (Forcepoint Triton, MS SCEP) etc is contributing to the crash however I note the crash does not occurr on the same PC using FF versions < 51.x.x so something introduced in 51.x.x must be at least contributing. How do I determine what FF was doing when the crash occurred? From the bug report it is not obvious to where in the FF code the crash occurred.

Ok, it's the same crash as Websense Endpoint. See this meta bug 1305847.
I think you're hitting bug 1304434 which affects FF51.

Kristian, what version of WebSense do you have?
They have fixed the incompatibility with Firefox 51 in their latest update. Can you ask your sysadmin to update WebSense?

I'm not sure what we're running is actually called Websense, granted I don't have a lot of experience with this type of software - either way here is the info from the 'About' page:
TRITON AP-ENDPOINT DLP

This software was recently pushed to our machines but if I run FF 50.x.x I don't have the bug. For now I've disabled updates to FF until we can fix this.

An update from our IT department:
"We are currently experiencing issues with applications running on Firefox as a result of incompatibilities with ForcePoint, <redacted> Data Loss prevention tool.
Note that Firefox is an unsupported browser; please use Internet Explorer 11, Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge instead.
IT Services are aware of the issue and are working to minimise the impact of this issue."
So it seems they are aware but are not committing to supporting FF. Hopefully it will get updated and fixed eventually. I will update if any future revision of ForcePoint resolves the issue, but I would encourage FF developers to find a fix in FF51 since the issue does not exist in FF50 with the same version of ForcePoint.

We are in contact with ForcePoint and we already know that they have a version that includes a fix.
Unfortunately this crash is caused by ForcePoint and there's no way to fix it in Firefox.
We are working with them and they will soon modify their software in a way that won't make this happen again.

Marco, could you please return with a comment after the software is modified so the reporter could re verify it?
