User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:49.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/49.0 SeaMonkey/2.46 Build ID: 20161213183751 Steps to reproduce: Opened SeaMonkey by right-clicking on an HTML file and selecting "Edit with SeaMonkey". (I never open SeaMonkey directly, so I don't know whether this matters.) Actual results: The spelling language setting is sometimes ignored - perhaps 1 in 3 times. I have my spelling language set to Norwegian (Norsk bokmål), but sometimes, HTML files open with squiggly lines under nearly all the words. When I click on the spellcheck button, I see that spellcheck is set to English. When I check the spellcheck language in the settings, it's Norwegian (Norsk bokmål). Expected results: When I open an HTML file, the file should always be spellchecked in the language selected in the settings, unless I click on the spellcheck button and change the language.

Both documents shown are in Norwegian (Norsk Bokmål), which is also the program language setting. The document on the left is also auomatically spellchecked as Norwegian, resulting in only a few squiggly lines. The document on the right is spellchecked as another language (English), resulting in squiggly lines under most words.|

The Seamonkey language setting (Edit/Rediger -> Settings/Innstillinger) does not explicitly apply to spellcheck (the dialogue box says - my translation from Norwegian - "Choose which language you wish to use in dialogue boxes, menus, toolbars and button texts". Yet spellcheck is done in Norwegian most of the time, but not all. Interesting example: The document that opened with English spellcheck is a copy of a template HTML file. The copy was made in Windows Explorer using Ctrl+C Ctrl+V. When I opened the original template file, spellcheck was in Norwegian. So SeaMonkey does not seem to follow some language setting in the HTML file, although I seem to remember that there is an HTML code for telling browsers which language the document is in. I guess Seamonkey ought to follow the setting in the HTML document rather than the interface language setting (new blank HTML documents could default to the interface language). Also, SeaMonkey should be able to insert or change that code using the spellcheck dialogue box.
