In the event that we don't completely remove 'make check' from the build (bug 992323), we'll need to at least run what's left in there on cross-OSX builds. This bug can track any remaining work required for that. If we do complete bug 992323 then there's nothing to do here.

I'm not sure this adds any value. The only things we'll be able to run will be Python unit tests, and running them on a Linux build image is the same as running them on a normal Linux build. Anything else left in `make check` that's *not* a Python unit test isn't going to work on a cross-compile.

Ahh, good point. Is it fair to assume that once the blockers on this bug are closed, we have full 'make check' test coverage on OSX with just a cross-linux build? If so, this bug can just be a metabug for those.
