User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:49.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/49.0 SeaMonkey/2.46 Build ID: 20161213175921 Steps to reproduce: Play a youtube video, and select a lower playback speed (0.5x). Actual results: The sound has a very wah-wah-wah quality to it. Expected results: Better quality sound (no wah-wah-wah). Imo it should just get a lower pitch, as it preserves the sound quality. However, Chrome manages a quality that's far superior to Firefox, without changing the pitch, so substatial improvement is definetely possible. I still don't think that Chrome's quality is good enough, though.

Forgive me if there are any protocols I'm breaking by posting here but I wanted to know if any work is being done on this bug. I want to know if there are any plans to fix this bug as it has been around for over a year and is an issue for anyone who wants to speed up any video the sound becomes very distorted. See this extension for an example of all of its users dealing with this bug (https://github.com/codebicycle/videospeed). I do not know any other way to escalate this bug. If I were a developer then I would try but I would not know where to begin. Please tell me how to somehow bring this bug to the attention of someone who could solve this issue. Thank you and again sorry if I'm not doing this through the proper method.
This should probably be a separate bug, but I would find it really useful to allow the user to select finer grained speed ratios, like 0.95, 0.9 etc. Such tiny slowdowns really help when you're listening to a fast speaker in a foreign language. The current algorithm might not support such ratios, in which case, there would be no need for another bug. Also, I would like to mention that VLC (VideoLAN client) is another opensource software which is *excellent* at slowing down audio.
I'd also like to express my support for this feature. I can try to help with the algorithm if the code is accessible somewhere.
