STR: 1. Install gecko profiler at https://perf-html.io/ 2. Disable gecko profiler. 3. Open https://s3.amazonaws.com/mozilla-games/ZenGarden/EpicZenGarden.html?playback&novsync&cpuprofiler 4. Once it's rendering, enable gecko profiler. Observed: Firefox 52 32-bit hangs. The hang does not seem to occur on FF Nightly 32-bit or FF Nightly 64-bit, so perhaps some incompatibility with earlier versions?
OS: Unspecified → Windows 10
Hardware: Unspecified → x86
The other thing that could be a factor here is that Nightly+Aurora are built with --enable-profiling and Beta+Release are not.

Oh btw, to be clear, if there's some technical reason why gecko profiler will not work on Firefox 52, I don't need it to actually work there (at least not any more, had to do some profiling specifically on FF 52 as opposed to Nightly earlier, but now that Zen Garden shipped, I'm past that at present), but it would be good at minimum to detect the reason of the hang and show a "not supported, please download Firefox xyz instead" message or something like that. That is, in the case that the root cause of the hang is that it's not supported.
I'm not aware of any technical reason why Firefox 52 would be unsupported. If it's really a bug that's fixed in the 53 / 54 / 55 channels, then we can close this bug. However, if it's related to the Beta/Release configuration, then we'll have the same problem in the next release. And we should do something about it.

Too old, and we haven't heard of similar issues in Beta/Release recently, so I'm closing it.
