Steps to reproduce:

My phone updated to a newer version (52.0) on March 7th.


Actual results:

Firefox will not open web pages and the loading bar never goes past about 1/3rd. The google app and google chrome still work fine on my phone (Asus Zenfone 3 laser running android 6.0.1) 


Expected results:

web pages should have loaded.

Does this happen every time you start Firefox and on every tab, even if you try opening new tabs and loading something there?

It would be helpful if you could use ADB [1][2] to get a log from a this situation.

Assuming you're on Windows, open a command line in the folder where you want the log file to be saved (Shift + right-clicking in Explorer should bring up an option for this) and run this command:
> adb logcat -dv threadtime | findstr Gecko > log.txt

This sounds very similar to bug 1332198, although if it really happens on each startup and for every tab you attempt to open I'm not quite sure whether it's just a more severe manifestation of that bug or some different root cause.

Just to clarify, did you try to open another tab and load a webpage from there? Because as @Jan Henning said, it is currently a known bug that the first tab gets "stuck".

I can confirm this behaviour on my Samsung Galaxy S5 mini (SM-G800F) running Android 5.1.1. My Firefox upgrade to 52 last night and pages will not load or load very slowly.

This happens on any tab I open, not only the first one ; on both Normal and Private mode.

Thumbnails of pages appear to load in the “Previews” on the tab menu screen.

I have cleared all running apps, but the issue persisted ; I rebooted my phone to no avail.

Does this only happen when using Wifi, i.e. like bug 1347054?
