Thunderbird 55.0a1 20170313, also with Thunderbird 24.8.1, both on Windows 8.1 with 125% zoom on OS level Can not be reproduce on Xubuntu 16.04 with latest Nightly. The 'Background image' textbox in the 'Page Colors and Background' settings of the compose window is almost collapsed due to flex="1". Steps to reproduce: 1. Open a HTML compose dialog (use Shift + click on the Compose button if you normally write mails in plain text mode). 2. Set the cursor to the message body. 3. Go to menu Format > Page Colors And Background. Actual result: The textbox for the 'Background image' is only a thin white line. Expected result: Textbox with fill height. Removing the flex="1" from the textbox fixes the issue, but pushes the OK and Cancel buttons down without increasing the dialog height so they get slightly cut off.
I can confirm this. It seems this is again a toolkit bug. I've seen more such issues with scaled desktops. Now what is better, a usable textfield or some buttons which are cut off? Both aren't optimal but I think option one is preferred.
The question wasn't really good. New try. Now what is better, a unusable textfield or some buttons which are cut off? I'm for the second.
Severity: normal → S3
