From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows NT 5.0; T312461) BuildID: 2002040303 installation fails with error message "Error uncompressing file C:\<path to my temp directory>\ns_temp\mozillauninstall.zip: 3. If I run Mozilla after this, it hangs on startup (although it does display the title of my home page in the titlebar). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. download mozilla-win32-installer.exe 2. run the installer and choose complete or custom installation 3. walk through the installation. Setup will fail when it tries to extract the mozillauninstall.zip Actual Results: mozilla hangs on startup Expected Results: should have installed successfully
sound like a local disk problem. No other user reported this and I had no problems installing mozilla... is there enough disk space left? did you run a scandisk? etc...

I have a couple of gigs free. I will try a scandisk when time allows (this is my work machine and I'm at work). I don't think the disk is the problem, however, for a couple of reasons: 1 - In my experience, Win2K is good at detecting bad sectors and logging them to the event viewer. If the problem was disk-related, I should be seeing these events. I checked the event viewer and saw nothing relevant. 2 - While mozilla setup was downloading files, I verified that mozillauninstall.zip existed in the ns_temp directory, and that I could open and extract it with winzip. I am able to run the extracted EXE, so the zip file does not seem to be corrupt. If noone else is reporting this, then I'm sure it's a local problem, so I'll leave this RESOLVED. When I have free time I will investigate further, since I would like to continue using Mozilla on this machine.
