From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:0.9.9+) Gecko/20020403
BuildID: 2002040308
I've been seeing this since the early part of the last week of March. It got a
bit better over the past few days, but with build 20020403, its back with a
vengeance.
I don't store my mail password on my machine; rather, I prefer to manually enter
it upon checking mail. However, with recent nightlies, as soon as I enter the
password and click "OK" or hit enter, Moz goes down....
Not always fully reproducible, but I haven't been able to check mail yet without
crashing on the 20020403 build.
Tried deleting and recreating my profile, does not solve anything.
This seems to be a linux-specific issue, as I use Windows builds and they don't
exhibit this problem at all.
Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Try to check mail over SSL/IMAP connection in which passwd is not stored.
2. Enter password when asked.
3. Wonder where Mozilla went.
Actual Results: Mail (and other moz windows) go down. If you signed up for the
super bonus game, a talkback window comes up! (could somebody PLEASE take bug
119270 seriously?)
Expected Results: Let me check my mail....
Problem started somewhere around March 20th, plus-or-minus 5 days (mail was rock
solid before that). Things proceeded to get better up till April 2 build. With
April 3 build, it fails every time.
Talkback incidents (from today): TB4784599Q, TB4784181H, TB4784183H, TB4784089X
I sent several other talkback incidents regarding this same bug a few days ago;
search for the email neel@ematic.com to find them.
Possibly related bugs: 79448, 132177, 130359
Similar bugs on the DEC OSF platform were fixed a while back. Those were ruled
to be 64-bit problems, but were awfully reminiscent of this one...
Recently, a bug like this one that dealt with POP was fixed. That bug resembled
this one better than any of these IMAP ones.
I am not using proxies of any kind (SOCKS, SSH, etc), though I am using a
(supposedly transparent) NAT gateway running Linux.
This works fine if I disable SSL over IMAP, but the versions of SSL do not make
a difference (for this reason, I don't believe this to be a dupe of 132177).
