tested on 2002-04-01-08-trunk OS = Mac X(10.1) 1. Launch Navigater 2. For just in case, elect Netscape/Preferences.../Advanced/Cache Click Clear memory chache and Clear disk chache button 3. Make sure View/Character Coding/Auto-Detect sets to Off 4. Access to above page having no meta tag for charset 5. You will have garbled page Make sure default Western(ISO-8859-1) is checked 6. Switch Character Coding to Japanese(ISO-2022-JP) 7. You will have brank page instead of garbled page In case of this, correct Character Coding is EUC-JP No problem on Mac OS 9.1 JA, Windows XP, Linux 7.1 JA. No problem for rest of Japanese regarding encoding. For your convenience, http://www.taisei.co.jp is non meta tag page also. Expected: should display non meta tag page even though garbled.
