Italic style is not well suited for Arabic as most Arabic fonts don’t provide slanted styles so browsers will be using synthetic slant most of time which looks ugly and vowel marks are often displaced as a result which makes the text less readable.
So I think italic should be avoided for Arabic script, and if it is needed to convey specific information an alternative should be used (e.g. using a different color, using bold etc.)
I see italic only in the translation list (not sure if it is used elsewhere), but here it redundant since a different color is used for source and translation, and the fact that they are different scripts gives even more clue.
