Details

From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:0.9.9+) Gecko/20020406 BuildID: 2002040608 New bookmark groups created from existing bookmarks cause the original bookmark names to be changed to the page title - even if they were edited for brevity before. i.e.: bookmark titled "foo", when used in the creation of a new bookmark group, gets its name reset to "foo - the greatest thing since sliced bread!" (or whatever the page's current title is) Using windows XP, Classic Theme, build 2002040608. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. rename two or more existing bookmarks to shorten names 2. open two or more existing bookmarks as tabs 3. go to "bookmarks" > "file bookmark..." 4. click radio button for "file as group" 5. name group 6. create group in whatever location you wish Actual Results: Original bookmark names overwritten with current page titles. Expected Results: Original bookmark names should be unaffected by new groups. Also, when renaming the old bookmarks to re - shorten them, the original (short) title still shows in bookmark properties, and must be changed (i.e. add a space to the end) for any changes to take place on the bookmark itself.
Sounds like a symptom of bug 51683.
