From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:0.9.9+) Gecko/20020407 BuildID: 2002040706 The bookmarks file has fields that change without user intercation. That makes it almost impossible to view the dieffernces between my notebook's and my desktop's bookmarks. ADD_DATE, LAST_VISIT and LAST_MODIFIED should be in a sperate file or db. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.have same bookmarks file on two PCs 2.surf and and add bookmarks on both 3.try to sync both bookmarks file 4. go crazy!

No, this is no dup, I've looked over more than 400 bookmarks bugs beforehand. I want *no* magic sync utility, but a clean bookmakr file format, to be able to see the differences myself. See the difference?
fine, then it's a dupe of the XBEL bookmark rfe. we are *not* going to muck witht the netscape bookmark file format, the fact that we have (or that some evil entity did) is a bug which i intend to fix (or continue screaming about at every opportunity until it is fixed) if you would like this bug to be reopened so that someone can resolve it as a duplicate of that bug, please feel free to reopen this bug. however this bug is not a usefully valid bug in my book, i would either mark it as a duplicate of one of the new bookmark file format rfe's (xbel) or mark it invalid.illl
The functionality reporter describes will be solved in bug 72398. If there are reasoable arguments to change the current format, please file an RFE on the matter. Keep in mind that it should benefit several OS'es and that there are already several external utilities that depend on the current bookmark format. Perhaps you can find some inspiration on how to write a shell-script to do what you want in moz2xmlbk.py (found at freshmeat.net)
